Edited by Constantin Zuckerman, Bilans de recherche publishes collected studies by distinguished Byzantine scholars. Each volume is devoted to a single author and brings together that scholar’s work on Byzantine history and civilization.

By gathering articles originally published in different journals and books, these volumes allow readers to revisit a scholar’s contributions, trace the development of their ideas and explore the connections between their studies. Each collection offers a view of a scholarly career through the sources examined, the methods employed and the questions addressed. The series gives researchers and students access in one place to studies that have shaped their field.

Since its launch in 2006, the series has grown at a steady pace. To date, 17 volumes have been published.
