Recueil des inscriptions grecques chrétiennes des Cyclades . De la fin du IIIe au VIIe s. ap. J.-C.
This collection covers a total of ten islands in the Archipelago: Amorgos, Andros, Delos, Kea, Mèlos, Naxos, Paros, Syros, Tènos and Thera. It brings together 145 texts, including a number of previously unpublished works. An appendix includes 60 epitaphs from Thera, where the mention of "angels" was mistakenly taken as an indication of Christianity. For each island, the epigraphic material is preceded by a historical note on the period under consideration, and information on the paleochristian remains in which the inscriptions are inserted. The commentary on the inscriptions covers geography, toponymy, personal names, titles and functions, as well as votive and funerary forms. More generally, it touches on the history of mentalities in an island world where the rise of Christianity was combined with the persistence of pagan realities and the influence of the Semitic world.
